Grandparents and separation

Grandparents and other close family can be a great support when they have clear, written instructions on treating a low and on hypo treats. After a separation, it is important that both guardians know the same care plan.

Practical tips for the support network

  • Give a short briefing: when to call 112, where the hypo treats are
  • Show how glucagon is used, or make sure it is available
  • After a separation, agree on shared routines for the child's best
