This is the transition from a primary-schooler's supervised involvement towards the young person's own active role. The most important thing is to practise planning ahead: what do I do before exercise, how do I tell an adult about a hypo, where is the phone, when do I contact home.

Move at your own pace, do not hand over responsibility too fast

If your child can already do a lot, you can give them more tasks. If everyday life is heavy, keep the reins more firmly in your own hands for a while. That is not a step backwards.
